That part of the equator, which is thenabove the horizon, is distinguished on thewestern side by the northern part of Lo-biesid’s shield, the shoulder of Antinous,the head and vessel of Aquarius, the bellyof the western fish in Pisces; it passesthrough the head of the whale, and a brightstar marked 8 in the corner of his mouth,and thence through the star marked 8 inthe belt of Orion, at that time near theeastern side of the horizon.
That half of the ecliptic which is thenabove the horizon, if we begin from thewestern side, presents to our view Capri-cornus, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus,Gemini, and a part of the constellationCancer.
The solstitial colure, from the westernside, passes through Cerberus, and the handof Hercules, thence by the western side ofthe constellation Lyra, and through the
dragon’s
