under the north pole, the pole star, one ofthe stars in the back of Cassiopeas chairmarked A the head of Andromeda, the*bright star in the wing of Pegasus marked3^, and the extremity of the tail of thewhale.

That part of the equator, which is thenabove the horizon, is distinguished on thewestern side by the northern part of Lo-biesids shield, the shoulder of Antinous,the head and vessel of Aquarius, the bellyof the western fish in Pisces; it passesthrough the head of the whale, and a brightstar marked 8 in the corner of his mouth,and thence through the star marked 8 inthe belt of Orion, at that time near theeastern side of the horizon.

That half of the ecliptic which is thenabove the horizon, if we begin from thewestern side, presents to our view Capri-cornus, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus,Gemini, and a part of the constellationCancer.
