the two Intersections, will be the Differenceof Latitude required. Or, if the Placesproposed are on the same Side of the Equa-tor, having first found their Latitudes, sub-tract the lesser from the greater; but if theyare on the contrary Sides of the Equator,add them both together j and the Differencein the first Cafe, and the Sum in the latter,will be the Difference of Latitude required.

Prob. III. To find the Difference of Lon-> gitude betwixt any two given Places.
Bring each of the given Places successivelyto the Meridian, and fee where the Meridiancuts the Equator each time; the Numberof Degrees contained betwixt those twoPoints, if it be less than 180 Degrees, other-wise the Remainder to 360 Degrees willbe the Difference of Longitude required.Or,
Having brought one of the given Placesto the Meridian, bring the Index of theHour-Circle to 12 o’Clock; then havingbrought the other Place to the Meridian,the Number of Hours contained betweenthe Place the Index was first set at, and thePlace where it now points, is the Difference
