'T'He Nightingals that are taken after the firstA of April until the latter end, are. the onlyBirds in the World for Song, and fit to bebrought up ; you may go out in the Morning andEvening; and having heard several Birds, makechoice of them that have best variety of Song,and hold out their Song without breaking off inseveral quirks, and is most lavish, throwing of itout at pleasure ; you must plant your Trap-CagesorTrap-Nets, as you did formerly for the Bran-chers, which were taken in June, July , or August-,When you go ataking, carry a Borrom-bag withyou, and some Meat in a Gaily-Pot to feed hima-broad, for if they be over-fasled they seldom live,which at that time in the year they require to be fedevery hour, for when you have set your Trap forothers, you may sit and refresh them you have inyour Bag ; be sure to tie their Wings at the end assoon as taken, and put or cut their Feathers fromtheir vent, otherwise they will be subject to clogand bake up their vent, which is present death ;when you come home, cram them as I directed inthe Branchers, and in the bottom of the Cage putDirt and Ants, and set some Meat made withSheeps-Heart and Egg, and mingled with Ants,and two or three Meal-Worms cut in pieces put in-to his Pan, and set him in a place that he may seeno Body to fright him till he is wonted to the Cage,and hath forgot his former liberty; be sure tofeed him seven or eight times a day, with three orfour pieces of Meat as big as a Pea, opening his
