Lastly , On a critical View of thePassage, it seems more likely that some Transcri-ber omitted %, a Word not necessary to the Sense,than that any one should add, where Sense wascompleat already.

The new Text wants the second 1 V«, as do al-so the Alexandrian and Cambr. MSS. whichour Editor most uncritically prefers to all o-ther MSS. and Versions. This use of the su-perfluous Particle /W seems peculiar to the Wri-tings of our Evangelist. For it occurs, John vi.39. if we take the Reading of Reza's MS. andagain, Rev. ix. 5. where we find it in all Copiesand Versions. And let this singular way of Wri-ting be remembred, to the Advantage of our Ar-gument, if ever we come to prove that this Evan-gelist was the Author of the Revelations. In themean Time, since the Sense is compleat withoutthe second iW, it is far more probable, that theVariation arose from the Omission of that Parti-cle , as being needless, than from a wilful Inser-tion of a Redundancy rarely used.
