Verse the Disciples betray a Disbelief of JesussMessiahstiip and Resurrection. But as the direct.Contrary discovers it self in the 2 2d and follow-ing Verses, he takes Care to begin the 2 rd Ver.with it's true , as if the Disciples then first of allbegan to appear favourable to those Points, whichthey had in a Manner given up before. But in-deed the 2 2d Verse is connected with the 21st,by a Particle not adversative, but such a one asusually denotes a Continuation of HomogeneousFacts and Reasonings.

•went down at certain Times into theFool\ and agitated the Water .
So that, according to our Interpreter, the E-vent here related was not miraculous, but ordi-nary and natural. However Grotius and Sir Nor*-ton Knatchhul have unanswerably proved, thatthe Healing Quality of the Pool was miraculous.Besides, the Phraseology strews that it must havebeen a real Angel, and not an human Messenger ,whose stirring produced so wonderful an Effect.
For ayyi\@*, when it stands absolutely, as here, always signifies an Angel. To which may beadded, that in many MSS. and Versions, particu-larly the Vulgar , ’tis said expressly, that an Angelof the Ford came down, &c.
