After some stay theyreturned to Kronslot, and thus ended this summer’sexpedition of the ships of war. But the galleysunder the Lord High Admiral continued muchlonger out, the Tsar going to Helsingfors a secondtime this year, to push on the building of a fortresson the plan of the demolished town ; essaying at thesame time to bar up the several passages into theharbour, one only excepted with a very narrowentrance lined on each side with batteries of heavycannon. Two brigantines commanded by foreignofficers were sent to make a chart from Helsingforsto Hogland. The two prahms with several galleyswintered in this port, the rest returning to St. Peters-burg. The new haven at Revel was begun thiswinter, and considerably advanced under the direc-tions of Major Lubrass, an engineer.

The ships laid up and the rivers frozen, aboutthe latter end of November a court-martial wascalled to examine into the conduct of Vice-AdmiralCruys and Captains-Commodores Scheltinga andRays. Cruys was tried on the precedent informa-tion of Count de Buss the foregoing year, as alsowith Scheltinga and Rays for misbehaviour in theaffair with the three Swedish ships this year.
