rescued, as it were, piece by piece, from the every-day chances of destruction,were liable, at a future time, to be dispersed, or subjected once more to theperils which its nature involves: I have therefore announced my intention thatit should find its ultimate resting place in the British Museum, where I trustthat it may furnish pleasure and instruction to future generations.
