869. Tankard, of ruby glass, in form somewhat like Fig. 2, ColouredPlate XVIII., but having a flat cover, inscribed F. R. in cipher under a crown.It is handsomely mounted in silver gilt. Height 6 in. (Bernal Coll.)

The cipher is probably that of Frederick I., King of Prussia, 17011713, andthe tankard may have been made in the Potsdam glass works.

870. Bottle of ruby glass, having a depressed, spherical base, and acylindrical neck, somewhat similar in shape to Fig. 8, Coloured Plate XVI. Itis ornamented with fine engraved work, taking the form of a band round theneck with a scalloped edge; the base is also encircled with scallops, above whichare two rich foliated scrolls, and between them two shields conjoined under anelectoral crown. Of these the dexter bears the arms of Saxony, and the sinisterJ. G. in cipher, no doubt for John George II., Elector of Saxony, 16561680,
