All thanks^ are Most due,therefore, unto the Almighty : Secingj it iopleased him, (even from my youth,by his divine favour, grace, and help )to insinuate into n.y heart, an insatiable zeal, and desire, to know his truth ;And in him, and by hiin,incesiant]y to feck, and listen after the fame; by thetrue Philosophical method and harmony: proceeding and ascending, ( as itwer c) gradatim, from things visible, to consider of things invisible from,things bodily, to conceive of things spiritual! * from things transit ory, andmomentary, to mediate of things permanent: by things mortali (visible andinvisible') to have some perseverance of immortality. And to conclude,ibost briefily; by the most mervailous frame ofthe whole World > philosophi-cally viewed,and circumspectly weighed,numbred, and mcifured( acC ordingto the talent,and gift of GOD, from above alotted, for his divine purposeseffecting) most faithfully to love,honor, and glorifie alwaies, the Framer , •and Creator thereof. In whose workmanship, his infinite goodness, un-searchable wifdomc,and Almighty power, yea, his everlasting power,and divinity, if ay ( by innumerable means) be manifested, and de on-strated. The truthof which my zealous, careful!, and constant intent, andendeavour (pecified, may (I hope) easily appear by the whole, full and duesurvey, and consideration of all the Books, Treatises, and Discourses, whoseTitles oncly, are, at this time, here annexed, and expressed : As they are setdown in the sixth Chapter,of another little R hapfodicall Treatise, intituled,’the Compendious Rebearsalli&c.writtcnabove two years since : for those herMajesties two honorable Gomiffioners; which her most Excellent Majestyhad most graciously sent to my pcor Cottage in Mortclacke : to understandthe matters, and causes at full; through which, I was so extreamly urgedto procure at her Majesties hands such Honorable Surveyors and wit-nesses to be assigned, for the due proof of the contents, of my most humbleand pf tifull supplication, exhibited unto her most Excellent Majesty, asHampton Court, An 1592.
