PllEFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION.
In sending forth a second edition of the History of Lace, theAuthor has to acknowledge the flattering reception of her book.
It has now been carefully revised, with the addition of acopious index, a few new illustrations have been added, and thehistory of the different fabrics brought down to the InternationalExhibition of 1867.
The work has been translated into French by the elegant penof the Comtesse de Clermont-Tonnerre, and is now in courseof publication by Messrs. Firmin Didot.
