Lace-making is the sole manual employment of the women ofCeylon. We mention it in this place because the specimens ofthread pillow lace from Point (le dalle and Candy bear a strikingresemblance to the Maltese. (Fig. 37.) A lace of similar charac-ter has also been successfully made in the missionary schools atMadras.
