ANALYSIS OF A FERTILE SOIL IN A VERY RAINYCLIMATE.

Mr. Giobert has communicated to the pub-lic, the analysis of a fertile soil in the vicinityof Turin , where it rains yearly above 40 incheson the square foot. He found lib. of it tocontain from 20 to 30 grains of extractive mat-ter which flamed and burned, and thereforewas a coal soluble in water; 2 6 lb. of it con-tained 1808 grains of water. The simpleearths were in the following proportion percwt*.
