PREFACE.

the most easy and regular Process; and thatthe Books already among us, on this Sub-ject, which have the most Admirers, arechiefly esteemed for being easily understood jthat is, in plain Terms, because they takein only some of the most easy Cases, andare not much concerned about Demonstrati-ons ; but I would not be thought to insi-nuate here, that this is the Cafe of all Au-thors that have been well received.

It may, perhaps, be expected, that I shouldhave included in this Tract, the Doctrine ofInfinite Series, and the Application of Algebrato the higher Geometry of Curves, togetherwith the linear Construction of Problems ofseveral Dimensions, £?r. which, indeed, Ionce intended to have done; but as these,I find, would swell the Volume to too largea Bulk, I have thought proper to omit them, yet may, perhaps, if Health and Opportunitypermit, consider them in another Place.
