HO UGH the Cbronology of Ancient Kingdoms Amended waswrit by the author many years fmce ; yet he lately revifed it,and was actually preparing it for theprefs at the time of his death.But the Sbort Chronicle was tiever intended to be made publick, andtherefore zvas not fo lately correcied by him. 'To this the r caler mujlimpnte it, if he Jhall Jind any places, where the Sbort Chronicledoes not accurately agree with the dates affigned in the larger piece.The Jixth chapter was not copied out with the other five, which makesit doubtful whether he intended to print it: but being found amonghis papers, and evidently appearing to be a continuation of the famework, and (as fuch) abridged in the Sbort Chronicle ; it was thoughtproper to be added.

Had the great Author himfelf lived to publi/h this work , therewould have been no occafion for this Advertifement ; but as it is,the reader is defired to allow for fuch imperfeciions , as are injepara-ble from poflhumous pieces ; and, in fo great a number of propetnantes } to excufe forne errors of the prefs that have efcaped.
