CHRONOLOGY.

of the complements of thetwo laft to 180 degrees ('); is 61 . 6°.Greeks.28'. 46^0. This is the nevv longitude of the old Colurus Sol -Jlitiorum pafting through thefe ftars. The fame Colurus paffesalfo in the middle between the ftars yj and of the fourth andfifth magnitudes, in the neck of the Swan; being diftant fromeach about a degree : it pafteth alfo by the ftar y, of the fourthmagnitude, in the right wing of the Swan; and by the ftar 0, ofthe fifth magnitude, in the left-hand of Cepheus, rightly deli-neated ; and by the ftars in the tail of the South-Filh; and is atright angles with the Colurus JEquinoSTiorum found above : andfo it hath ali the charafters of the Colurus Soljlitiorum rightlydrawn.

XXXIV. The two colures therefore, which in the time of theArgonautic expedition cut the ecliptic in the Cardinal points, didin the end of the year 1689 cut it in L. 6°. 29'; 61. 6°. 29';

U. 6°. 29^; and KN. 6°. 29^; that is, at the diftance of 1 fign,

6 degrees and 29 minutes from the Cardinal points of Chiron;as nearly as we have been able to determino from the coarfe ol>-fervations of the ancients : and therefore the Cardinal points, inthe time between that expedition and the end of the year 1689,have gone back from thofe colures 1 fign, 6 degrees and 29 mi-nutes; which, after the rate of 72 years to a degree, anfwersto 2627 years. Count thofe years backwards from the end ofthe year 1689,. or beginning of the year 1690, and the reckon-ing will place the Argonautic expedition about 43 years after thedeath of Solomon (*).
