XLT. The Trojan war was one generation later than that ex-pedition, as was faid above, feveral captains of the Greeks in thatwar being fons of the Argonauts : and the ancient Greeks reck-oned Memnon or Amenophis, king of Egypt, to have reignedin the times of that war, feigning him to be the fon of Titho-nus, the eldeft brother of Priam, and in the end of that war tohave come from Sufa to the affiftance of Priam ('). Amenophiswas therefore of the fame age with the elder children of Priam,and was with his army at Sufa in the laft year of that war. Andafter he had there finifhed the Memnonia ; he might return intoEgypt, and adorn it with buildings, and obeliiks, and ftatues,and die there about 90 or 95 years after the death of Solomon ;when he had determined and fettled the beginning of the newEgyptian year of 365 days upon the verna! equinox, fo as todeferve the monument above-mentioned in memory thereof.
