We began this day, for the first time, to fire with ballsagainst the pendulum block. The powder of the six barrelsbefore-mentioned, had been all well mixed together for theuse of the experiments, that they might be as uniform aspossible, in that, as well as in other respects.

The Gun was n° 1, with the leaden weights.

Its weight and the distance of its centre of gravity, wereas before-mentioned ; the distance of the tape it was for-gotten this day to measure, but from circumstances judgedto be 106y.
