To giveHerr Beyrich full credit for his penetration, I subjoin his remarks (loc. cit. p. 47), andhave great pleasure in naming the genus after him. ‘ Battus tuberculatus, Kloden, welchenBurmeister als synonym zu Odontopleura ovata citirt, ist weder ein Battus nocht iiberhauptein Trilobit. Er hat ein zweiklappige Schale, deren Oberfliiche mit ganz unsymmetrischgeordneten Lappen und Tuberkeln bedeckt ist, und muss eine besondere Gattung nebenCytherina bilden.’

The Cythere phaseolus of Hisinger is enumerated among Irish Silurian fossils in thesame work.

V. From the treatise ‘ Ueber einige bohmische Trilobiten,’ by Dr. Ernst Beyrich (1845),referred to by Professor Burmeister more than once, we have extracted the following genericcharacters of Cheirurus, Sph^rexochus, Lichas, and Trochurus.
Cheirurus. Caput ambitu semi-orbiculari, limbo pnecinctum, testa tectum granulosain glabella, scrobiculosa in genis. Suturm faciales ab oculis postice ad marginem exteriorem,antice sejunctm ad marginem ductse. Oculi parvi. Sulcus occipitalis profundus, propeangulos cum sulco marginali confluens. Glabella magna, lata, usque ad limbum marginalemporrecta, frontem versus dilatata. Sulci laterales glabellas tres distincti; posteriores versusad sulcum verticalem retrorsi; medii et anteriores stepius conjuncti, recti vel parumretroversi. Aim occipitales scuti centralis latm ; scuta marginalia parva.
