in the latter stages it somewhat resemblesphthisis. It comes on with occasional chilliness,loss of appetite, lowness of spirits, wasting of theflesh: shortly succeed swellings in the groinand axillae; general debility, paleness of thelips. As the disease advances the patient stoopsvery much ; experiences pain in the chest, andacross the shoulders: sometimes, but not often,a cough, and expectoration now supervene, thedebility and emaciation become extreme, anddeath relieves the patient from his sufferings:these are all the symptoms which Mr. Marinercan speak of with certainty. They use no phy-sical remedies.
Feke-feke appears to be a sort of mild irregu-lar intermittent: the paroxysm usually lasts fromtwo to eight hours, and consists of a cold and ahot stage; but is seldom succeeded by per-spiration. The returns of the paroxysm arevery uncertain j sometimes two, at other timesthree, four, five or more days intervene. Thepatient is sometimes perfectly well for a month,and then his disorder returns.
In regard to diseases properly belonging tofemales, Mr. Mariner has very little to commu-nicate. The women are in general tolerablyhealthy: during the catamenia, they anointthemselves all over with a mixture of oil andturmeric, to avoid catching coldj and they do
