It is delightful indeed, to the en-tomological eye of an Aurelian, to behold and contemplatethe dexterity exhibited by this charming insect, whilst itsails, all gaiety and grace, round the tall sprig of a Larkspuror other flower; probing to the very bottom every smgle tube,neglecting none, and trying no one twice.

I once knew a specimen of this species taken at Chris'mas;which makes it probable that some of the September broodmay occasionally live through the winter, like many speciesof Papilio.

Imago. Antennae et Lingua spiralis nigrae. Caput, Thorax,anticaque pars alarum anticarum virides. Abdomen fulvum,fascia lata media et lateribus caudae purpureo-nigris. Aleeantice fenestratae margine costali, basique late virides : venis,puncto oblongo medio, margineque postico late brunneo-fuscis, subinde tinctura purpurea. Ales postica primoribussimillimae, at margo posticus minus fimbriatus est.
