44 Adieu, my dear Lord Duke, and for the rest of my life, beit long or short, I beg you to consider me as
44 Your ever affectionate friend,
44 R. Landaff.”
On the 30th of the same month, a paralytic stroke deprived mein a great measure of the use of my right hand; but my under-standing not being affected thereby, and the Rishop of Lincolnhaving published about that time his 44 Refutation of Calvinism, ”I sent him the following letter: —
44 My dear Lord, Calgarth Park, 17th May, 1811.
44 Being at present unable to write legibly, I make use of thehand of my son to signify to Your Lordship the great satisfactionwhich I have received from the perusal of your late work, and tocongratulate you on the general approbation which it so justlymerits, and will certainly meet with.
44 In saying this, I do not mean to say that I agree with you onevery point; but in what I differ from you I have rather a sus-pended than a decided judgment, and am far from dogmaticallycontending that I am right and you are wrong.
44 I agree with you most cordially on the two main points;that the doctrines of Calvinism are not the doctrines of Scripture, nor were maintained by the most ancient fathers of the church.
