How noticeable.—Larva.
If in the middle of May we ex-amine plants of soapwort ( Saponariaofficinalis), we may possibly observethat some of the shoots are contortedand puckered in a peculiar way; andif on opening out one of these shootswe find a dull green larva, with ablack head and black plate on thesecond segment, we may presumewe have found the larva of G.Fisckerella.
How noticeable.—Imago.
If at the end of June and begin-ning of July we use the sweeping-net amongst plants of soapwort(Saponaria officinalis'), it is very pos-sible that we may obtain specimensof a greyish Gelechia, which has thecosta of the anterior wings ratherpale, except a small black blotch atthe extreme base, and has two con-spicuous black blotches rather abovethe fold; these would, no doubt, bethe imago of Gelechia Fisckerella.
Mode of Life.
The larva feeds on soapwort (Sa-ponaria officinalis) ; it feeds in theyoung shoots, arresting their develop-ment and contorting and puckeringthem, just as the larva of Viscarielladoes to the shoots of Lychnis, and

Si au milieu du mois de Mai nousexaminons des pieds de saponaire (Sa-ponaria officinales), nous observeronsprobablement quelques pousses decette plante entortillées et ridéesd'une manière assez singulière ; etsi, lorsque nous ouvrons une pousseainsi déformée, nous y trouvons unechenille d’un vert sombre, à têtenoire, et avec une plaque noire surle second segment, nous pourronsla rapporter à la G. Fischerella.
Le Papillon. —Comment le trouver.
Si, à la fin de Juin et au com-mencement de Juillet, nous fauchonsparmi des pieds de saponaire (Sapo-naria officinalis), il se peut que nousobtenions des individus d’une Gelechiagrisâtre, dont les ailes antérieuresont la côte assez pâle, excepté unepetite plaque noire à la base même,et offrent de plus deux plaques noiresbien distinctes un peu au-dessus dupli ; ce seront sans doute les papillonsde la Gelechia Fischerella.
Manière de vivre.
La chenille se nourrit de la sapo-naire (Saponaria officinalis) ; elle seloge dans les jeunes pousses, dontelle arrête le développement en lestordant et plissant tout-à-fait commela chenille de la Viscariella traite les
