How noticeable.—Larva.
If in the month of June we visit aheath where Genista anglica grows,and look closely at this plant, weshall observe that on some of thetwigs the young leaves are drawntowards the stem and have a bleachedappearance, almost a primrose colour;on separating these leaves from thestem we should probably notice aprettily mottled dull reddish andgreenish larva, which would be thatof Gelechia albipalpella.
How noticeable.—Imago.
If in the month of July we visit,towards evening, a heathy placewhere the Genista anglica grows,and ply a sweeping-net amongst thatplant, we shall very probably obtainspecimens of a small black Gelechia,with the opposite spots small andwhitish ; these would most likely bethe perfect insects of Gelechia albi-palpella.
Mode of Life.
The larva feeds on the leaves ofGenista anglica ; it does not devourtheir whole substance, but minesthem or eats half their thickness,whereby the leaves assume a paleprimrose tint; it draws several ofthe leaves together round the stem,and forms thereby a sort of tubular

Si, nous visitons au mois de Juin,une bruyère, où croît la Genista an-glica, et si nous examinons cetteplante nous observerons que surquelques rameaux les jeunes feuillessont courbées vers la tige etblanchies, ayant presque la couleurd’une fleur de primevère ; en dé-tachant ces feuilles de la tige, nousremarquerons probablement unechenille, élégamment bigarrée d’unrougeâtre obscur et de verdâtre ;cette chenille sera celle de la Ge-lechia albipalpella.
Le Papillon.—Comment le trouver.
Si, au mois de Juillet, nous visitonsvers le soir une bruyère, sur laquellecroît la Genista anglica, et si nousfauchons parmi les pieds de cetteplante nous obtiendrons probable-ment des individus d’une petite Ge-lechia noire, avec les taches opposéespetites et blanchâtres ; ce seraient,selon toute probabilité, les papillonsde la Gelechia albipalpella.
Manière de vivre.
La chenille se nourrit des feuillesde la Genista anglica ; elle n’enmange pas la substance entière,mais les mine, où bien elle mangela moitié de leur épaisseur, d’où ilrésulte que ces feuilles deviennentd’une couleur de primevère ; elleattache ensemble plusieurs de
