the “ Lepidoptera Britannica” at p.580, under the name of Tinea Cory-lifoliella ; subsequently described byStephens in his “ Illustrations,” Haus-tellata, vol. iv. p. 258, as Argyro-miges Corylifoliella, and by Staintonin the Zoologist for 1848, p. 2156,under the same name.

In 1852 Stainton described it inthe “ Entomologische Zeitung” at p.85 as Lithocolletis Corylifoliella, andunder this name it has since beendescribed again by him in the “InsectaBritannica,” by Herrich-Schàffer inhis “ Schmetterlinge von Europa,”and by Frey in the “ Tineen undPterophoren der Schweiz.”

Hiibner’s figure of Corylifoliella,which Haworth had thought identicalwith the species he described, can ofcourse only be referred to as a verydoubtful synonym, it representingrather the whole group than anysingle species. The descriptionin Stephens’s “Illustrations ” of Ar-gyromiges ulmifuliella was, I be-lieve, made from worn specimensof this insect, and it can thereforeonly be referred to as an ambiguoussynonym.

mier l’a décrite dans son ouvrage “Le-pidoptera Britannica,” à p. 580, sousle nom de Tinea Corylifoliella ; plustard Stephens en a présenté la de-scription sous le nom d’ ArgyromigesCorylifoliella, dans ses “ Illustrations ”Haustellata, tome iv. p. 258, et Stain-ton dans le “ Zoologist” pour 1848, àla p. 2156, sous ce même nom. En1852 Stainton la décrivit dans 1’ “ En-tomologische Zeitung,” à la p. 85,comme Lithocolletis Corylifoliella, etsous ce nom il l’a encore décrite dans1’ “ Insecta Britannica ; ” Herrich-Schaffer l’a décrite dans ses “Schmet-terlinge von Europa,” et Frey dansses “ Tineen und Pterophoren derSchweiz.” La figure donnée parHübner de la Corylifoliella que Ha-worth a crue identique avec son es-pèce ne peut être considérée quecomme un synonyme bien douteux,puisque cette figure convient plutôtau groupe tout entier, qu’à une espèceparticulière quelconque. La de-scription publiée par Stephens dansses “Illustrations ” de Y Argyromigesnlmifoliella, a été faite, si je ne metrompe, d’après des individus malconservés de cet insecte, et ne sau-rait donc être qu’un synonyme in-certain.
