ELACHÏSTA ZONARIELLA.

yellowish fascia in the middle ; thefascia is nearly straight, broadest onthe inner margin, and is posteriorlytinged with orange; cilia greyish-fuscous, the apical cilia, beyond anindistinct dark hinder-marginal line,yellowish-white. Posterior wingsgreyish-fuscous, with paler cilia.

Thorax dark fuscous. Abdomengreyisb-fuscous. Legs greyish-fus-cous, the tarsi spotted with paleyellowish.

Underside of the anterior wingsdark fuscous, the fascia showingthrough very indistinctly as dullyellow, the apical cilia conspicuouslypale yellowish.

Description of the Larva.

Length 4 lines. Dull grey-green,with a fine whitish line down themiddle of the back; head lightbrownish, with the margins andsutures dark brown; second seg-ment with two brown blotches ofirregular form, divided by a centralwhitish line; anal segment with abrown patch.

Geographical Distribution.

In the south of England this hasonly hitherto been met with at Bris-lington, near Bristol ; towards thenorth it has occurred at Stockton.In Scotland it is common at Renfrewand Fochabers.

On the Continent this has occurredat Zürich, Ratisbon, Vienna, and inCroatia; also at Glogau and in Fin-land (at Abo).

brunâtre foncé, ayant une bande dunjaunâtre pâle au milieu ; cette bandeest presque droite, a sa plus grandlargeur au bord interne, et-est teintedorangé vers le bord postérieur ; lesfranges sont dun brun grisâtre, lesfranges apicales, au-delà dune lignefoncée, peu prononcée, du bord pos-térieur sont dun blanc jaunâtre. Lesailes postérieures sont dun brun-grisâtre, avec les franges plus pâles.

Le corselet est dun brun foncé.Labdomen dun brun-grisâtre. Lespattes sont dun brun-grisâtre, lestarses tachetés dun jaunâtre pâle.

Le dessous des ailes antérieuresest dun brunâtre foncé, la bande syvoit très-indistinctement et paraîtdun jaune obscur ; les franges api-cales sont dun jaunâtre très-pro-noncé.

Description de la Chenille.

Longueur 4 lignes. Dun gris-vert obscur, avec une ligne minceblanchâtre le long du dos ; la tête estdun brunâtre pâle, avec les bords etles sutures dun brun foncé; le deuxi-ème anneau porte deux taches brunesde forme irrégulière, séparées par 1®ligne centrale blanchâtre ; le derniesegment porte une tache brune.

La Distribution Géographique.

Dans le Sud de lAngleterre cetteespèce na été rencontrée quà Br |S 'lington, près de Bristol ; vers 1 eNord on la trouve à Stockton-st ,rTees. En Ecosse elle est communeà Renfrew et à Fochabers.

Sur le Continent on la trouveZürich, à Ratisbonne, à Viennedans la Croatie ; elle vit égaleme 0à Glogau et en Finlande à Abo.
