BUCCUEATRIX AURIMACULELLA.
Underside of the anterior wingsgrey, with a faint indication of thesecond pair of spots in the cilia,which otherwise are of a unicolour-ous pale grey.
Description of the Larva.
Length 2 lines. Greenish or yel-lowish, with numerous faint whitishprominences ; head pale brown ; se-cond segment rather paler than theground-colour, with numerous fineblack dots, giving it a speckled ap-pearance ; dorsal vessel greenish;the ordinary spots greenish. Theabove description applies only to theexternal feeding larva, the mininglarva being very different; it is paleyellowish, with a brown head, abrown lunule on the back of thesecond segment, and with a smallblack-brown spot on each side ofthe second segment, immediatelybehind the head.
Geographical Distribution.
This insect is not uncommon inmany parts of England. I havetaken it at Lewisham, at Forest Hill,near Croydon and at Miekleham.Westward it has occurred freely atBristol, and to the North it has beennoticed at York, at Darlington andin the Lake District of Cumberland.
On the Continent it occurs inSwitzerland, where it has been takenat Zürich (but very sparingly amongstswarms of B. nigricomella), and morefreely in the Upper Engadine nearSt. Moritz. In France I have metwith it at Boulogne.

Le dessous des ailes antérieuresest gris, avec une légère trace de laseconde paire de taches dans lesfranges, qui du reste sont d’un grisunicolore pâle.
Description de la Chenille.
Longueur 2 lignes. Verdâtre, oujaunâtre, avec de nombreuses verruesd’un blanchâtre faible ; la tête estd’un brun pâle ; le second segmentest un peu plus pâle que le fond,avec plusieurs petits points noirs, quilui donnent un aspect tacheté ; levaisseau dorsal est verdâtre ; lestaches ordinaires sont verdâtres.Cette description ne s’applique qu’àla chenille lorsqu’elle mange l’exté-rieur de la feuille ; la chenille mineuseest très-différente; elle est d’unjaunâtre pâle, avec la tête noire, unelunule noire sur la partie postérieuredu second segment, et une petitetache d’un brun-noir à chaque côtédu second segment tout près de latête.
La Distribution Géographique.
Cette espèce n’est pas rare dansplusieurs endroits en Angleterre ; jel’ai trouvée à Lewisham, à ForestHill, près deCroydonetà Mickleham.Vers l’Ouest elle se trouve à Bristol,et vers le nord on l’a remarquée àYork, à Darlington et dans le paysdes lacs de Cumberland. Sur le Con-tinent elle se trouve en Suisse, où onl’a rencontrée près de Zurich (maistrès-rarement parmi des foules de laB. nigricomella ), et plus communé-ment dans la Haute Engadine, prèsde Saint Morice. En France je l’aitrouvée à Boulogne.
