“Truly a wonderful work, which gives in the space of anordinary map every star which is to be found in Argelander ’swondrous star maps of the Northern Hemisphere. In other words, this map of Mr. Proctor’s displays at once, in the proportionatesize and in their exact position, no less than 324,198 heavenlybodies ; certainly a marvel of work. Truly enough has Mr. Proctorsaid, that ‘ to the general student of science the chart is chieflyof use in affording the means of enlarging his conceptions respect-ing the glories of the celestial depths. If he remembers that everyone of the dots in the chart represents in reality a sun—a sun per-haps exc3eding our own in magnitude and splendour—he cannotfail to be impressed with a sense of the grandeur of the stellaruniverse .’”—Popular Science Review.
