The Guardians of the Poor of the Eastry Union, in tho County of Kent, hereby certify that a Steam Apparatus for tlpurposes of Cooking and heating Water for Washing, was erected at the Uuion Workhouse, by Mr. W. P. STANLEYof Peterborough, in the month of March last ; and from that period to tho present time, it has worked satisfactorily, effectifa considerable reduction in the consumption of Coal.
Given under our Common Seal, at a meeting of the Board, held this Thirteenth day of September, 1851.

Tliis implement is much used for other purposes besides clod-crushing; namely, for rolling meadows or pasture land, alsoparks and lawns. By breaking the bard surface of the land, thograss springs up thickly, and of luxuriant appearance.
The Press Boiler is also very effectual for re-setting wheat, vet-ches, and other plants made light by frost ; and the ravages ofthe wire-worm or grab are at once stopped by its application.
