IMPLEMENTS OF HUSBANDRY
List of the most useful Implements used for the purposes of Hus-bandry in the more improved Districts of Scotland ; with anote of the prices.
It would be very difficult, or rather almost impracticable, to as-certain the prices of agricultural instruments in the several dis-tricts of this country, as they vary not only In different counties,but also in the various parts of the same county. This is nodoubt occasioned by the difference in the value of wood andworkmanship, and in the quantity of iron made use of, some re-quiring their implements strong and heavy, others more slenderand light.
As improvements on the construction of these instruments wereintroduced into Berwickshire at an early period, it may not be im-proper to give the following comparative view of the price of themost material implements of husbandry in that county about theyear 1750, contrasted with those in 1808 : and the prices in thevicinity of Edinburgh in the year 1811.
