In the environs of London the largest plant is in the Hammersmith Nursery, whichis upwards of 10 ft. high, and would have been twice that height had it not been cut down, upwardsof 10 years ago, on account of its being too high for the house in which it then stood. At FulhamPalace, it is 5 ft. high ; and there are plants of about this height in the Horticultural Society's Garden,Messrs. Loddiges’s arboretum, Cheshunt, Bayfordbury, and various other places. AtEdinburgh, in the Botanic Garden, it is 4ft. 6 in. high; and in the Experimental Garden, 2ft.6 in. high. In Ireland, there are plants in the different botanic gardens; and at Oriel Temple thereis one, which, in 1834, after being 12 years planted, was 7 ft. high.
