FI.Nep.; Luculi Swa, Nepalese ; and our fig. 2484.; is a shrub, or small tree, with opposite, dotted, and slightly pubescent branches; leaves opposite, acuminated, paler green on the under side, the nerves strongly marked, and covered with a short villous down, with a little bunch of down in the axils ofeach. Flowers disposed in a terminalcyme; large, showy, of a beautiful pinkor light rose colour, and delightfully fra-grant. Calyx of 5 linear sepals, seated on ashort crown which terminates the ova-rium, and dropping off shortly after theexpansion of the flowers. Corolla funnel-shaped, the limb divided into 5 lobes;stamens 5, inserted in the throat; ovariesslightly top-shaped, fleshy, covered witha villous down, 2-celled. As this plantwas found by Dr. Wallich growing on ex-posed hills in Nepal and Silhet, blossomingall the year, there is no doubt that itwould stand on a conservative wall, withvery little protection during frost. Itwas raised at Ashridge, from Nepal seed,in 1816, and is kept there in a green-house, in loam and peat, blossoming fromOctober to the end of January. It roots freely from cuttings taken off at ajoint, and is frequent in collections.”
