Two brigades of Sappers removed rock from thethird parallel, and formed drains there, and half abrigade were similarly employed in the trench on theright of the battery No. 1, leading to the ravine ;the carpenters were employed at the magazine in thenew mortar battery No. 7 ; the Line cleared thedrains and the left approach to the third parallel, andrepaired the banquette, formed a latrine near themortar battery No. 6 ; continued the trenches of theRight approach with 90 men, while 50 were in thetrench leading to the ravine from No. 1 battery.
