INTRODUCTION.
ble deflexion was produced in the malle-able iron-rails, when loaded with heavyweights. Considering the difference ofopinion, as to their utility, compared withcast-iron, it is a subject of no trifling in-terest whether this bending tends, in anydegree, to affect the resistance of carriagesmoved along the malleable iron-rails. Ihad prepared apparatus to determine thispoint, but have, for the present, beenobliged to delay it, for the reasons previ-ously stated.
