He then suggestedwhat might be expected from internal divisions, which wasa fate like to what had befallen the other cities of Asia .
CHAP. XXXIX.
THE following circumstance is thought worth noticing-A certain man was offering sacrifices to the earth, in hopesof finding a treasure, and whilst thus employed, scruplednot addressing Apollonius on the subject of his petition.Apollonius understanding what he wished, said, I seeplainly how much your heart is fixed on riches.
