PART II-
Of Things appertaining to each OR'DSR;
CHAP. L
Of the "TUSCAN Order .
HE Orders os ARCHITECTUREinvented by the Greeks , were no morethan Three : namely, the Doric , Ionic,and Corinthian 5 the Romans have addedto these the Tuscan and the Composite,by some calsd the Italic ; but these twoOrders, have not, properly ipeaking,any essential Characters different fromthose of the Greeks: for the Charactersof the Tuscan are near the same as those of the Doric, and those osthe Composite very much resemble them of the Corinthian , which isnot so in the three Greek Orders, where the Things which distin-guish each from other, are very considerable and remarkable, as ismore particularly explain d in the first Chapter of the first Part.
