LIST OF COLEOPTEBA.

Chlcenius gonospilus. Male. Golden green, black beneath.Head thinly punctured, with some longitudinal striae on each side infront and with a transverse furrow near the mouth. Mandiblespiceous. Palpi, antennae and legs testaceous. Prothorax thinlypunctured, slightly contracted in the hind part, with an impressionon each side near the hind border and with a longitudinal furrowwhich does not extend to the fore border; sides rounded. Elytrablack, with eight striae on each, with a narrow testaceous outerborder, and with a large testaceous apical patch which is deeplyexcavated in front, where it forms two right angles on each side.Length of the body 6£ lines.

Closely allied to C. marginellus, Dej., rather stouter; the apicalpatch longer, more regular, and forming fewer angles in front.

Peryphus megaspilus, Male and female .Blackish green.Head smooth. Palpi, antennae and legs testaceous. Prothorax witha middle longitudinal furrow and with minute punctures on each side.Elytra with finely punctured strise, each with two large elongatedtestaceous patches which occupy nearly the whole breadth. Lengthof the body 2£ lines.

Much allied to P. cruciatus, Dej., which is said to be a variety ofP. Andreae, Fair., but without a dark streak in any of the four palepatches.

Hydroporus ikestus. Black, elongate-oval, slightly shining.Head with a large reddish spot in the disk. Elytra smooth; eachwith three testaceous spots at the base, with two indistinct streaksin the disk near the base, with a testaceous costal streak proceedingfrom the base and ending in a patch at nearly one-third of thelength, with an elongated testaceous dot near the suture at halfthe length, with three posterior elongated testaceous dots, one nearthe suture, two subcostal and near a testaceous costal line. Legsred. Length of the body 2f lines.

Hydroporus semiclusus. Black, oval, slightly shining. Headwith a large tawny patch extending to the fore border, near which itis contracted. Palpi, antennae, four anterior tibiae and tarsi tawny.Elytra smooth, each with the basal third part testaceous, which hueis much excavated; two posterior elongated testaceous dots, and alarge elliptical, subapical, nearly complete testaceous ringlet. Lengthof the body 2J lines.

It is less elongated than H. mcestus, and of a more decidedlyoval shape.
