§ 22. All acts or parts of acts coming within the pro-visions of this act, or contrary to or inconsistent with itsprovisions, are hereby repealed.

AN ACT more effectually to incorporate the Hamilton Mill Company, in force fpu. a
1863 .
Section 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state ofIllinois , represented in the General Assembly, That ArtoisHamilton, Thomas McLellan, Bryant Bartlett, Henry R. corporatorsDickerson and George Edmunds, jr., who are associatedunder “An act to authorize the formation of corporationsfor manufacturing, agricultural, mining or mechanical pur-poses,” approved February 10th, 1849, by articles of asso-ciation dated the 17th day of November, A. D. 1852, andfiled in the office of secretary of state the 23d day of No-vember, A. D. 1852, together with David E. Head, BryantT. Scofield and Crocket Wilson, who are now associatedwith them, and such other persons as shall hereafter asso-ciate with them, by subscribing to the stock of the com-pany so associated and hereby extended, enlarged and in-corporated, are hereby recognized as a body politic andcorporate, and are hereby more effectually created a bodypolitic and corporate, by the name and style of “The N » mc 11,1,1 * l >' lrHamilton Mill Company,” and by that name shall haveperpetual succession, be capable of contracting and beingcontracted with, of suing and being sued, of acquiring bypurchase, or otherwise, and holding or conveying realand personal property, for the purposes and objects ofsaid company ; may have a common seal, which they mayalter at pleasure; may make all needful by-laws for thegovernment of the company, its officers and the manage-ment of its affairs, and alter the same at pleasure ; mayprovide for the election of such officers and agents as maybe deemed necessary, and prescribe the duties and liabili-ties of all the officers of said company.
§ 2. The said company are hereby authorized to build Dl ™-a dam across the slough between the southeast quarter ofsection No. 30, township No. five north, range No. eight,west of the 4th principal meridian, and island No. two, inthe Mississippi river , in Hancock county, Illinois , and alsoto extend a dam or dyke from the head of said island No.two into said river, in such form anckto such extent as saidcompany shall deem most advantageous for the purpose ofcreating hydraulic power; and said company may use, lease,or otherwise dispose of the same; and may construct suchother works, buildings and machinery as may be deemed[ N2 J
