According to the report of Medical Director A- • *Foard (See Johnston’s “Narrative,” pp. 576-578), 1:11losses of the Confederate Army in the Atlanta rampaign amounted to 3044 killed, 18,952 wounded = 21,9* »•The prisoners (including deserters) captured by 1Union Army (See Sherman’s “ Memoirs,” Vol. IL,P- 1,5 ’’numbered 12,983, which gives 34,979 as the aggregateof the Confederate Army. (Major E. C. Dawes ofeinnati, who has made a special study of theestimates the Confederate loss at about 40,000, and '■Union loss at about the same.)
