The Meridian of the Placemay be found by this Method so exact, thatthat it will not differ at any time from thetrue Meridian above 10/ Time, and if aproper Allowance be made for the Refrac-tion at the Time of Observation, it may befound much more exact. This Line thusfound will be of use to save Trouble after-wards ; and is, indeed, the Foundation ofail astronomical Observations.

< To find a Star or Planet In the Day-time ,even at Noon-Day.

The Instrument remaining as rectifiedin the last Experiment, you set the Becli-nation-Semicircle to the Declination of theStar or Planet you want to fee; and thenyou set the Equatorial Plate to the RightAscension of the Star or Planet at thattime, and, looking through the Telescope,you will see the Star or Planet; and afteryou have once got into the Field, youcannot lose it: For, as the diurnal Motionof a Star is parallel to the Equator, byyour moving the Equatorial Handle so asto follow it, you will at any time, whileD d 2 it
