Expansion of Water.

The latest and best observations for determining the expansion of water by heat,are those of Stampfer*, DespretzPierre;};, tabulated by Frankenheim Kopp||,and Plucker and Geissler^]". The observations of Hallstrom and Muncke are notincluded in this list, on account of certain sources of error pointed out by Despretz.

The following Table exhibits the ratios of the maximum density of water to itsdensity at f C, according to the different observers above mentioned.
