Observations for finding the density of PS.
Apparent weight in water of the hook and wire by which PS, PC No. 3 andPC No. 4 were suspended in water.
The weight of 123-6 inches of the platinum wire by which the weights were sus-pended was 38-815 grains. Hence one inch displaces 0-01365 grain of water. 100parts of the micrometer scale correspond to a displacement of 0-01365 grain of water. With 110 grains in each pan, 100 parts =0*2559 grain. With the hook suspendedin water, 100 parts =0-2559 grain +0-01365 grain =0*27 grain. The upper hook bywhich the wire was attached to the scale-pan was changed twice during the weighings.
