An extraordinary test of E. Tann and SonsPatent Reliance Safes took place at Glasgow , onthe 17th of October, 1850, in the presence of thesuperintendent of police, and a large number ofthe bankers, merchants, and tradesmen of that city.The safe was placed in the midst of 48 cwt. of coalsand several waggons of wood, and was exposed tothe action of the fire for three hours and a half.The result was quite satisfactory, as the testimonialsunderneath will testify.

Being present at the com-mencement of the advertisedpublic test of the fire-resistingqualities of E. Tann andSons (of the Hackney Road,

London ) Patent Reliance chemi-cal filled safes, we certify thatthis document, with severalhooks, bank notes, &c., amongthem parchment deeds withseals, and a watch was de-posited in one of the safes im-mediately before being placedin the fire.
