RESOLUTIONS
Adopted by the first and second branches of the city councilof Baltimore and submitted for the approval of the Mayor,February 26th, 1844.
Resolved by the mayor and city council of Baltimore , That thethanks of the'eity olTaUimore be, and are hereby presented to thecity of Paris for the splendid donation of books which have beenpresented by the said city to the city of Baltimore . She cordiallyreciprocates the sentiment that such testimonials presented bythe cities of France to those of the United Stales , have a favora-ble effect on litterature and science and on the fine arts, and onthe sympathy and ancient friendship so happily existing betweenthe United States and France .
Resolved, That the following books and maps be presented inthe name of the city of Baltimore to the city of Paris , as a tes-timonial of the sense entertained of the friendship of the said cityin presenting sundry valuable books to the city of Baltimore .
And be it resolved that the chairman of the committee be au-thorised by and with the approbation of the mayor, to draw’ onthe Register for the sum necessary to carry the foregoing resolu-tion into effect.

Resolve to promote Mutual Literary and Scientific Exchangeswith Foreign Countries.
Resolved, That there be hereafter fifty additional copies of eachvolume of laws, resolves, and public documents printed byorder of the Legislature, be printed and bound for the purpose ofexchange in foreign countries (t).
