Experiment XXII. These appearances are tobe observed in a dark room on the extremity of apointed wire, fixed upon a conductor positively ornegatively electrified; or on a wire held in thehand, and presented to a positively or negativelyelectrified conductor.

Experiment xxiv. Place a pointed wire inthe conductor, and hold the hand over it whenthe machine is in action, a very sensible wind willbe felt by the hand.

Experiment xxv.. Stick several pieces of pa-per or card like vanes in a cork, through the centerof which a needle or steel pin passes; suspend thewhole by a magnet; present one of the vanes to apointed wire inserted in the conductor, and theywill be put in motion by the current occasioned bythe point, and will turn with rapidity.

A pointed wire placed on, or brought near toan electrified conductor, gradually and silentlydissipates the electric fluid.
