Chap. X,

VI. If, by any Casualty, their Shipsshall be driven on Shoar, and in Peril ofShipwreck, Our Begs and Judges, andall other Our Subjects, shall aid andassist them, and such Goods and Mer-chandizes of theirs as shall be savedshall be restored them; And no Wrongbe done them, by any Man.

VII. When any of the said Queen’sSubjects, their Interpreters and Mer-chants, shall, on Account of Trade,repair to Our Dominions, either byLand or Sea, they shall have quiet Pas-sage, paying Our lawful Toll and Cus-tom : And none of Our Captains or Go-vernors of the Sea, and Ships, or anyother Persons, whatsoever, shall anyWay molest or hurt them, either intheir Bodies, Goods or Cattle.

VIII. If any Englijhman become in-debted to another Person, and abscond,so that he cannot be found, no otherPerson shall be arrested or apprehendedfor his Debt, unless he has been Suretyfor the same.

XII. I f any 'Englijhman shall be guil-ty of a Crime, and thereupon abscond,no Person shall be arrested or detainedfor another Man’s Deed, unless he havebeen Surety for him.

XIII. If any Slave be reclaimed bythe Englijh Consul or Governour, heshall be strictly examined ; And if it ap-pear, that he is an Englijlman, he shallbe discharged and delivered to the Con-sul.

XIV. No Englijhman, who comes ei-ther to trade or settle in Our Dominions,be he married or a Batchelour, shallpay any Poll or Head-mony.

XV. If the Englijh shall think fit tochuse and establish Consuls, or Cover-nours, for their Nation, either in Alex-andria, Damascus, Samos , Turns, Tri-poli, in the W est, the Ports of Egypt,or any other Places, in Our Dominions,they shall have Liberty so to do, andto remove or change them, at theirPleasure, without Let or Molestation.

IX. I f any Englijhman shall make hisWill or Testament, it shall take Effect,and his Goods be delivered to his Heirsaccordingly : And if any one die intes-tate, his Effects shall be disposed of ac-cording to the Will of the Englijh Con-sul, for the Time being.

X. If any Englijhmen, or the Mer-chants and Interpreters belonging to anyPlaces, under the Jurisdiction of theQueen of England, shall have any Con-troversy or Dispute, concerning Trade,or any other Engagement, let them goto the Judge, and cause their Matter tobe recorded ; And, if they please, takeCopies of the same, attested by theJudge, to be produced, as may be neces-sary, and proceeded upon according tothe Tenour thereof. But if such Mat-ters should not be recorded, nor Copiesthereof taken ; Yet the Judge shall ad-mit of no false Evidence; But shall actaccording to Law, and Justice, and suf-fer no Wrong to be done them.

XI. If, at any Time, it shall be al-ledged, that an Englijhman, being aChristian, has reviled or spoken oppro-bt'iously of Our holy Faith andReligion;In that Case, as in all others, ny falseEvidence shall be admitted.

XVI. If, at any Time, their Inter-preter be absent, on other weighty Af-fairs, any Matter or Concern, forwhich his Presence is required, shallbe deferr’d till his Return, and, in themean Time, no one shall molest them.

XVII. I f any Difference or Contro-versy arise between two Englijhmen,the Adjudging of which they are wil-ling to refer to their Consul, no Manshall interrupt them; But the Causeshall be determined according to theirown Customs.

XVIII. If, after the Date of thisPrivilege, any Pyrate, or other Cap-tain of Ship, sailing the Seas, shalltake any Englijhman, and shall makeSail of him , either beyond, or on thisSide of the Sea, the Matter shall beexamined into, according to Justice;And if the Person shall be found to beof the Englijh Nation, and shall em-brace our Holy Religion, he shall bereleased: But if he still persist to bea Christian, he shall be restored to theEnglijh Nation, and the Buyers shallseek their Mony again of them whosold him.
