Copy of a Letter from Muley Ha-rriet, King of Fez, and Emperour ofMorocco, to the Earl of Leicester.
In the Name of the most graciousand Mercifull God.
« The blessing of God light upon our Lord and“ Prophet, Mahomet, and those that are O-" bedient unto him.
" np H E Servant of God, both" J mighty in War, and mightily" exalted, by the Grace of God My-" ra Momanyn, the Son of Myra Moma-" nyn, the J ar iff, the Haceny, whose<< Kingdoms God maintain, and advance" his Authority, unto the right famous" right noble, and highly esteemedEarl of Leicester, after due Praises" given unto God, and due Bleflingsfc and Salutations rendered unto the" Prophet Mahomet. These are to give“ You to understand, that Your Letters" arrived here, in Our Royal Court,and We we well perceive the Con-" tents thereof. And Your Ambassa-" dor who remains here, in Our Court," told me the Cause of the Slowness of" the Gages or Pledges,until this Time," which Reckoning We accept of, andtc hold Ourselves as satisfied. And as" touching the Matters whereof, You€t write unto us, concerning John Her-* e man, and the self same Complaint" which Your Ambassador made of" him. Before the coming of Your*« Letter, we had already commandedsf him to be taken, upon the Complaint" Your Ambassador had made of him ;sf whereupon he still remains in Hold," and shall so continue, until fartherJustice be done upon him, according" to his Desert. te ample Testimony of Your Friendship," We have received very great Plea-ts sure and Satisfaction, as well of the" one, as of the other; and with all“ We could not omit to magnify You,“ according to Your Desert. We have" also received Your Letters, and do" not a little rejoyce at them, because" they come from a Prince to whom" We are so much beholden. Our A-" gent has written unto Us concerningtf certain Things, which You desire" to be sent unto You from hence, andtf tho’ We wish that We could particu-,e larly satisfy You, as You desire, yet“ it happens, that the Wars, in which-ff we are, at this Time, engaged, wall" not suffer Us fully to do the same j“ Nevertheless, We have commanded," to satisfy You in Part, and as far as" the present Necessity will permit us," as Our Agent will declare unto You" more particularly, hoping You will re-" ceive in good Part, according to the" good Will, wherewith We grant the" same.

Besides these three Pieces, I find no-thing farther concerning this Ambasiy;But that Mr. Roberts, having residedthree Years at the Court of the Empe-rour of Morocco, and finished his Nego-tiations, when he returned to England »brought with him one Marstoock Reiz*an Officer and Gentleman of the Em-perour’s Court, as his Ambasiadour toQueen Elizabeth.
