Dr. J mew As Bees of diverse ( supposed ) noysome flowers, make one

We must be diligent in our calling, not like the sluggard, orthe Drone in the hive, but like the labouring Bee, taking thetime while time is, whilst the Sunne shineth making hay:which condemneth such, that though they will not be altoge-ther without a calling, nay more then that will sanctifie it bythe word and prayer evening and morning, yet will be negli-gent in it, either too late at it, lying in their beds, turning themwith the sluggard (like the doore on the hinges) folding theirhands, and crying yet a little mere sleepe,or else tatlers in theirbusinesse ( omitting many dayes ) with a shew of walking intheir calling, but in truth nothing lesle.

curious Bee-hive of this Common-wealth, there are foure fortsof idle Drones, much like the foure sects ofPhilosophers whichsometimes flourished in Athens ; The Academick, Epicure, Pc-ripatetick, and the Stoick. The first, were greatly given to stu-die and contemplation, and these are the idle gamstcrs who areall night in speculation, devising new tricks, and inventingstrange conveyances by Cards and Dice, which next day theyGen. 3, iK. put in practice; God faith, in the fat ate of thjface, thou (halttate thy bread, and these idle Drones live by the sweat of othermens browes, only by playing. David with one smooth stoneout of his bag discomfited the whole host of the Philistines;
