Circle, which Inclincth to the Equinoclial about 30°, and tu the Eclipticis49 0 or49°i, cutring the /Equator at about 45^, and the Eclipticis at 28°of Aries, or a little more.

He takes Notice, that more Comets enter into our Systeme by the Sign of n. 2. p. 15.Libra and about Spica Virginis than by ali the other parts of the Heavens :

For, both the prefent Comet and many others registred in Hiflory have entredthat way, and confequcntly pafs’d out of it by the Sign Aries ; by whichalso many have entered.

a. Till the 6 th of Feb, this Comet ahvays advanced : but aster that Day, obftrveJ;by m.1 found that it returned in Augmentingahvays its Latitude. I lest it Mar. 8. Auzout ' ,b ‘at the 18. of the Horn of Aries, almost in the fame Latitude ; and Iamaptto beleive it will be Eclipfcd this Evening.

I {hall only add, that on Feb. 3. we were furprixed, to fee the Comet a-gain much Brighter than ordinary, and with a conliderable Train. Sumedid bclieve, that it approach’d again to us. But having beheld it with aTelefcope, I fbon läid, that it was joyned withtwo finali Stars, whereof oncwas pretty Bright, and that this Conj unci ion gave the Comet that Brightnefs.

Hence it was, that I assur’d my Friends here, that we fhould no more fee it16 Bright.

M. Auqmt also strongly conceives, that this Comet could not be Feb. i8 ,n ’ 6 ' p> l37 'fi. n. where M, Hcvellus, in his Prodromus Cometicus , hath placed it, vix, inprima Arietis ; unless it be fäid that it vilited that Star of Aries on the 18.and returned thence the 19^, into its ordinary Courfe: for, accordingto his, and his feveral Correspondents Obscrvations, the Comet on Feb. 17.was distant from that First Star of Aries at lea st i° 17^; and on Feb. 19.

( He having miffed, as well as his other Friends, the Obfervation on Feb 1 8)was Advanced in its way 1 1' or 13', but yet Distant from the said Starfume Minutes above a whole Degree, and confequently far from having thenpastld it. Aster which time M. Auspout affirmsto have feen itas wc-li as fe-veral others, for many Dayes, and that until Mar. 17, Ooferving, that a-bout Feb. 26 or 27, when the Comet was nearest to the osten mentioned Fitfim' Aries, it approached not nearer than yos

3. Some Eminent Engltßo Asircmmcrs, who have attentivcly obferv’d the By j ome En ,Polition ot this Cernet, do joyntly Conclude, that wharever that appcarance giisli Astrono-was, which was feen near the Firß Star of Aries by M. Hevelius (the truth ™ crs- 'k. p.ioS,of whofe Relation conccrning the fame tliey do in nowife Question ) the sii id ’ - ' P ’ ' 5 °’Comet did not come near that Star in the Lft Ear of Aries, where the f.id

M. Hevelius fttppofes it to have pafltd, but took its Courfe near the BrlghrStar in its Lest Horn, according to Bayers Tables.

4. J have cafily found the Principle of M. Au^cufs F.pheme, ides and ’tis Tbc Principia of

tlllS,

that this Comet moves about a Centre, in a straight Line drnwn from As, A“zoutsffy-the Earth through th e Grcat Dog, in fo great a Circle, that that Portion Motion ’öf th.itwhich is deferibed, is exceeding fmall in re/pect us the whole Circumferente Comcc ofir-thereof, and hardly distinguistiable by us from a Straight Line. v ^r>yM.
