The thermometer during my stay in Abyssinia in March, April, and May,varied according to the height of the local situation ; at Chelicut it was 70,at Antalo 65, on the banks of the Tacazze 95 ; while on the mountains ofSamen it must have been below the freezing point. During these samem911ths the average of the thermometer at Mocha was 78, and duringJanuary and February at Zeyla it was 79, varying from 74 to 82.
