To Lewis Lydgard, of London, painter, the 28th. of January, 1587, for priceof 102 yards of calico, had for the making of two great flags, stained incolours with her Majesty’s arms, to be worn at sea in the ship the lordadmiral sailed in, at 9d. every yard, £.3 1 6s. 6d. More, for the sewing,and making up of them, 10s. And more to him, for the staining of thesaid flags into colours, and the charge for bringing of the same from Londonto Queenborough, £. 6 i6j. 8 d. Summa £.11 2J. 2 d.
To William Hawkins, esq. of Plymouth, the last of September, 1588, for priceof 127 boults of Mildernex canvass, for the new making of sundry sails,at 27s. every boult, .£.171 9J. More to him, for 42 boults of DanskePoldavis, for the making of boat and pinnace sails, at 25s. every boult,jf.52 ior. And more, for 984 yards of vittory canvas, as well for therepairing of old sails, as also for the making of waste cloths, at 12d. peryard, £.49 4j. Summa £.273 3/.
To William Curry, of Deptford, the 20th. of December, 1588, for price oftwelve cables of sundry scantlings, being made of Queenborough stuff, byhim delivered into her Majesty’s great storehouse at Deptford, for themooring of her Highness’ ships, weighing altogether 33 cwt. 3 qrs. 231b.after the rate of 18s. 8d. every cwt.
